Wool for Cold (K)nights

My new lil´man has turned out to be quite an eater, so I realized I had to finish this jacket quickly before he outgrows it. It was started in April, but I didn´t find the time to finish it until we went to our cabbin in July. It is knitted in Fabel and the pattern is Garnstudio. I have never made a crochet trim before, and I was quite happy with the result. My newborn knight looks SO cute in it:)

Hat for Lucìa

Another little princess has arrived, this time it´s my best friend's! I had a couple of skeins left over from the jacket for my little desi-princess, and decided to knit this hat as it seem like a good fit. The pattern can be found here, and once again I must admit that Fabel is my (so-far) only exception to the 'never-multi-coloured-yarn' rule. I will post another little piece in this yarn later. Needless to say, my little latino-princess outshines the hat any day..

Spring green

As the snow has been pouring down here in Norway, I have knitted this little jacket for my little cave-man. He will be born in the beginning og May, and the lovely lambs wool yarn from New Zealand is perfect for those chilly spring days. I have posted these buttons earlier, I'm happy that I've found the perfect use for them. The jacket is the same I have posted earlier in pink!

Happy new year!

So I have decided to put my yarn stash on a serious diet in 2010. This means making use of all those single skeins lying around, which can actually be turned into quite lovely projects! Like these two little vests from Nøstebarn. I used 50 g Dale babyull on both, and they knit up so quickly! They are perfect for knitting while watching TV as they hardly demand any concentration. The blue one is for the little gentleman in my tummy, and the yellow one has already been delivered to my friend's little Sigrid who was born in November. They are so snug and lovely, I will definately make more presents like these. I am quite happy that I manged to finish two projects within Week 1 of 2010. Let's keep it up:)

The Classic..

I decided my son needed at least one of the Norwegian classics. I really love the Marius-sweater, so the choice was easy. I have seen this in many colour combinations, but for children, I like the blue, white and red. I may even consider making one for myself somtime! Merry Christmas!

For celebrations...

This may be my prettiest work so far. It was supposed to be for my son for the 17th of May, but I never managed to finish it. Luckily I chose the biggest size, so this will still fit him quite a while. It better. I have to give credits to my grandmother who helped me quite a lot, she did the arms and helped with the button edge.
The original pattern is from Dalegarn, and the original colours are absolutely horrendous, but I saw this jacket in colours close to this on a blog, and fell in love. I chose silver hooks to give it the kind of national costume-feel, but I will definately use this as much as I can in all kinds of situations considering the amount of work.

Pink for my princess

At last I have managed to knit something for my little niece! I am usually not a fan of multi coloured yarn, but in this case I made an exception. I absolutely loved the fresh summer look it gave this little coat when I first saw it at Garnstudio. I also really like simple wooden buttons. I tend to think that baby buttons shaped like cars or bears take the attention away from the garment itself, so I like to keep it simple. Can´t wait to see my little, beautiful princess in this!

Love from Maisey

A couple of years ago I started sewing a bit and bought some beautiful fabrics on the net. Unfortunately I find sewing too messy, it requires alot space and stuff so I decided to stick to knitting and crotcheting. One day I gave this beautiful fabric to Maisey, and look what I got in return!! A fabulous case for my needles!! Maisey, you are a true wizard.

Finally..

I have been way too busy the past months.. I have put my self in the situation where I have several projects that are almost finished, so hopefully I will be posting more regularly the next weeks. I have promised myself not to buy any more yarn until I have actually finished a couple of my ufos... SO, this little pink jacket is for one of my closest friend's baby who is due any day now. Can't wait to meet you sweetie! The pattern is from the fantastic Nøstebarn book.

Another quick fix

Feeling the enormous pressure from the three people reading this blog, of having produced something while I was away, I went for another quick fix. I have actually knitted two of these before in blue and white for both my grandmothers for Christmas. My mother absolutely loved them, and bought me this orange yarn so I could make her one as well. This hat looks so much better on, you can see it on a head and find the pattern here.

New Year´s treat

I just found out that there is a yarn shop close to our cabin, and to be honest, I don´t know if that is a good thing. It is really nice and I always get in a yarn-shopping-mood whenever I go to the mountains. Well, I ended up buying two skeins of wonderful (and quite expencive may I add) alpaca, in a rasberry red. I think this will end up as a crochet project, but time will show. It is Faerytale from Du Store Alpakka.

Flora

I´ve found that when days are busy, but you still have an urge for knitting, hats are a quick fix. I really loved this pattern and decided this was a good project for the Christmas days, and it really was (despite the fact that the pattern requires some counting). The name of the hat is Flora. I knitted this in Falk, on needles 3,5mm.
