The Classic..

I decided my son needed at least one of the Norwegian classics. I really love the Marius-sweater, so the choice was easy. I have seen this in many colour combinations, but for children, I like the blue, white and red. I may even consider making one for myself somtime! Merry Christmas!

Orange Bliss...

A couple of days ago we decided to make chocolate candy out of oranges for Christmas. The process was not that difficult, but the chocolate-dipping took forever. They came out delicious! (We'd all like to write our own reviews..)

"Latte" for leftovers

I had quite a lot of yarn left over from the jacket-project, and decided it would be perfect for the Latte baby sweater. The sweater is a size 3 months, and although I have no little boy that age around, I`m pretty sure he'll come along. And it always feels nice to use some leftovers, making space for more oh-so-lovely yarn.

...... and chutney!

After last year's succsess, Maisey and I had to make the mango chutney this year as well. We also ended up making an apricot and fig chutney with a little less spice for those not so though ones. We have saved empty jam-jars since the summer, and got some at Ikea as well. Quite lovely! My dad made a label (a task he took quite seriously) and I had bought some no less than fabulous fabrics at E-quilter. I don't have a pic of the fininshed project yet, but will post one as soon as we finish the designs!

C is for Christmas, cookies and cozy november nights...

So I have finally put all my academic projects behind me and can now focus on what really matters; spending time with my family. It is still a month to Christmas, but I really don't want to stress so I decided to start early this year. I decided to make two types of macaroons; oatmeal with rasins, and cocout with fresh ginger. They turned out really nice! I was a bit of a sceptic towards the ginger, but it is such a nice contrast to the coconut! Lovely with your daily "cuppa". The bowl with the oatmeal cookies is made of beautiful chrystal, and used to belong to my great-grandmother. It is one of my most cherished belongings.

Turning Two!

I really cannot believe that my son has turned two. It is absolutely amazing. We had a big party with family and friends, and he sure enjoyed being the centre of attention. I made my cup cakes once again, but this time I had ordered a Wilton stand to put them in. Fab or what? I just love ebay.

For celebrations...

This may be my prettiest work so far. It was supposed to be for my son for the 17th of May, but I never managed to finish it. Luckily I chose the biggest size, so this will still fit him quite a while. It better. I have to give credits to my grandmother who helped me quite a lot, she did the arms and helped with the button edge.
The original pattern is from Dalegarn, and the original colours are absolutely horrendous, but I saw this jacket in colours close to this on a blog, and fell in love. I chose silver hooks to give it the kind of national costume-feel, but I will definately use this as much as I can in all kinds of situations considering the amount of work.

Pink for my princess

At last I have managed to knit something for my little niece! I am usually not a fan of multi coloured yarn, but in this case I made an exception. I absolutely loved the fresh summer look it gave this little coat when I first saw it at Garnstudio. I also really like simple wooden buttons. I tend to think that baby buttons shaped like cars or bears take the attention away from the garment itself, so I like to keep it simple. Can´t wait to see my little, beautiful princess in this!

Tangy lemon for sweet news

As my hubby got the news of a fantastic new job, I once again saw the chance to use my Humming bird book. I will soon post more knits, but right now it´s all about cooking. This is a tangy lemon and poppy seed cake, and the most fabulous thing about it is that while the cake is still very warm from the oven, you pour a lemon sirup all over the cake to make it super moist! Yummo! Perfect with strawberries for those late summer nights.

Love from Maisey

A couple of years ago I started sewing a bit and bought some beautiful fabrics on the net. Unfortunately I find sewing too messy, it requires alot space and stuff so I decided to stick to knitting and crotcheting. One day I gave this beautiful fabric to Maisey, and look what I got in return!! A fabulous case for my needles!! Maisey, you are a true wizard.

Welcome Eivind!

I have just finished this blanket for the newest member of our family, my cousin's son Eivind. He was born a couple of days ago, and I have been working on this for quite a while. I thought it was a good idea to crochet a huge granny square, as it seemed to go pretty fast. That was until I started working on the 7th or 8th round... I am so happy that I managed to crochet a lace on the edge, as I have never tried that before. I will go see him later today, and hopefully he (or my cousin) will love it. I have used Falk from Dale and hook 3.5.

Food to celebrate a year gone by.

So, once again I decided to turn to my newly discovered Bible of Cakes when asked to bring something to a summer party with my lovely colleagues. I made one portion of just as lovely choc-cakes, and one portion of a never before tried Strawberry Cheese cup-cakes. I guess it is not necessary to mention that it was a HUGE success. What you cannot see in this pic is that the bottoms of these heavenly bites are covered with fresh strawberries to make up for the rather heavy topping. On top I have put crunched Digestives (to add to the chesse cake feeling) and red sugar from Dean and DeLuca.

Food for rainy days...

As the rain poured down outside I gathered it was no coincidence that the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook arrived at the p.o yesterday. A rainy day was the perfect excuse to bake for my two favourite choc-muffins in the whole wide world. So cupcakes I made and lovely they were! I will definately make a point of trying all the recipes in this book.

Finally..

I have been way too busy the past months.. I have put my self in the situation where I have several projects that are almost finished, so hopefully I will be posting more regularly the next weeks. I have promised myself not to buy any more yarn until I have actually finished a couple of my ufos... SO, this little pink jacket is for one of my closest friend's baby who is due any day now. Can't wait to meet you sweetie! The pattern is from the fantastic Nøstebarn book.

Another quick fix

Feeling the enormous pressure from the three people reading this blog, of having produced something while I was away, I went for another quick fix. I have actually knitted two of these before in blue and white for both my grandmothers for Christmas. My mother absolutely loved them, and bought me this orange yarn so I could make her one as well. This hat looks so much better on, you can see it on a head and find the pattern here.

New Year´s treat

I just found out that there is a yarn shop close to our cabin, and to be honest, I don´t know if that is a good thing. It is really nice and I always get in a yarn-shopping-mood whenever I go to the mountains. Well, I ended up buying two skeins of wonderful (and quite expencive may I add) alpaca, in a rasberry red. I think this will end up as a crochet project, but time will show. It is Faerytale from Du Store Alpakka.
